The World at His Feet
From the seat of a powered paraglider, a one-person aircraft that looks like a flying lawn chair, George Steinmetz photographs a caldera in the Sahara in Niger filled with—what else?—sand. Even through his feet, Steinmetz found the view “stranger and more beautiful” than he had imagined, “as if planet Earth has had its living skin peeled away.”
