This is a bird that was shot and lost use of its wing, he is now used to educate and show people the beauty of these animals and that there is not need to hurt them.

Blue Heron and Dog
Photo and caption by Jaynie Hancock
A Blue Heron was standing quietly and still in the mudflats of Washington's Puget Sound keeping a wary eye on an oblivious dog playing nearby. As soon as the dog entered the Heron's personal space, it silently and majestically took flight.
Great Blue Heron with fish

The largest and most widespread heron in North America. When foraging, they stand silently along riverbanks, lake shores, or in wet meadows, waiting for prey to come by, which they then strike with their bills.

Badab soort natural spring is located in Northern Iran near the city of Sari. Due to accumulated sediment of iron oxide of its water, a number of small pools have been formed in shape of staircases with amazing orange color.
Waimea Canyon rainbow, Kauai
Photo and caption by Kathy Tarantola
Waimea Canyon in Kauai, dubbed The Grand Canyon of the Pacific by Mark Twain, is a glorious 10 miles of geological wonder. Rainwater and the Waimea River have carved these colorful canyon walls of deep reds and lush greens to a depth of 3,000 feet over a ten mile span. Nearby Mount Wai'ale'ale is considered one of the wettest spots on earth, averaging more than 426 inches of rain annually since 1912.
Luckily, rain sometimes means rainbows!

Standing at the edge of the Angolan Plateau (the Planalto) that rises almost vertically aprox 1000m and reaching (at this point) about 2300m above see level. Like in the movie "UP!", this place creates its own climate and some times all 4 seasons can alternate in the same day. This photo was taken at sunset, a storm had passed by and a new one was approaching. The temperature was +14 degrees Centigrade, a cool summer day in the heart of Africa ;)

Flame Skimmer Dragonfly - Magnificent at Rest
Photo and caption by Tim Jones
I found this Flame Skimmer dragonfly buzzing around a pond this summer in Pasadena, Southern California. It was fully preoccupied with courtship and settling for only seconds at a time. I'd taken several nice but essentially plain vanilla shots showing the whole body and wings, when it suddenly presented something special in this cruciform pose. If ever less were more...
