Generations2
Photo and caption by cindy wan
This photo was taken in Sichuan Province, China in 2009. Those people were Yi People. The Yi people have live in the deep mountains of western China for generation after generation, over thousands of years. They go through great pains for prosperity. Their hearts are filled with the same longing for a good life. The cruel reality, however, leaves them in an inescapable fate.

Portraits from Jaffa
Photo and caption by Bar Am-David
Tel Aviv is divided into nine districts that grew up during the city’s short history. The most notable of these is Jaffa, the ancient port city out of which Tel Aviv grew.
Jaffa is the most celebrated place in Israel, where Israelis and Arabs live in peace together despite the conflict. My purpose was to examine the lifestyle of this particular place and to look at how ordinary people survive in their extraordinary circumstances. These photographs do not pose solutions but serve as a reminder of enduring spirit through the most challenging adversity. -

Rapt
Photo and caption by Brittni Hagen
I took this picture while on a train in the heart of the Albertan prairies. This man was a part of the railway excursion and was dressed in character as a famous metis historical figure. The pose you see him in was candid, and I think captures his passion for what he does.

Kuker (International festival of masquerade games Pernik, Bulgaria)
Photo and caption by Orlin Ognyanov
Surva, the International Festival of the Masquerade Games held in the town of Pernik is the biggest event of this type not only in Bulgaria but on the Balkan Peninsula as well. It promotes variations of ancient Bulgarian customs that are still alive today. These are an important part of the Bulgarian folklore tradition and are meant to be performed by single men and women. With its competitive nature, the festival is not only a venue but also a contest for the living vessels of this tradition, namely the Kukeri and Survakari.

Photo and caption by Bertrand Linet
The Mount Hagen show is one of the two most important tribal shows in Papua New Guinea. Desfile of more than 70 diferent colourful tribes. It takes a lot of time to apply the make up. It is for me the most interesting part of the show.
