'Varkari ' Marathi pilgrim

This is one of the Varkaris(PILGRIM), who walked hundreds of miles to the holy town of Pandharpur,INDIA, gathering there on ekadashi (the 11th day) of the Hindu lunar calendar month of Aashaadha which falls in July.
He had just reached to his beloved Vithoba's temple, very tired and I clicked his face looking for somebody may his small nephew who had gone to fetch water. -

Adolek Kohn, 89, at his home in Melbourne, Australia. Adolek is a holocaust survivor. He made international headlines earlier this year when he danced at some of the former concentration camps to 'I Will Survive'.

The motivation and inspiration for this work was due to emotional trauma which I experienced while being deployed in Iraq from 2006-2008. The deployment made me question the nature of my involvement in the military and the need to absolve an identity built around the experiences of war. I looked to find answers that could give my life meaning, connection and significance.The photographs are the manifestation of the desire I had to reconnect with other individuals around me.

This is Daria, 28. She is mother of two children and pregnant with a third. She lives with her family on a landfill in Cebu City.
They have an average income of 2 USD a day, earned by collecting the recyclable fractions out of the city garbage.
I like this shot because Daria found herself a T-shirt saying "The world needs a beautiful and rich nature". What an irony, considering the environment she and her family have to live in. -

Mother and child

It is a lucky day when you can capture a mother and her first born in natural light that is reminiscent of the heavenly and religiously iconic portrayals of painters from the 15th century. Here is a seemingly classic in composition portrait, in a modern day setting that emotes a historical understanding of mother and child. This bond has been explored at length and depicted in many ways, yet never ceases to be beautiful, true and mesmerizing.

The Subway

I snapped this picture on a New York City Subway platform. I used a longer exposure to compensate for the low light and a women moved into my shot looking down the tunnel for her train. With the assistance of my brother Nicholas Errico and Adobe Photoshop CS4 I was able to get this great black and white photograph.
