Glacier Perito Moreno

Category: Nature

Photo and caption by Mariya Filippova

With a thunderous crash, tons of blue ice cleave from the Perito Moreno glacier and crash into the Argentine lake. The blue hue of the ice is formed over centuries of ice compaction as the glacier flows down towards the lake. Bit by bit it is disappearing despite the careful environmental protection regulations the Argentine government has in place. All over the world these habitats are under fire and I hope these photographs inspire others to help.

Location: El Calafate, Argentina
