Seto Nation is an ethnic minority that lives in southeastern Estonia, known for their elaborate folk costumes and unique form of singing called leelo, considered an item of intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO. When visiting Estonia, I spent an afternoon with a leelo choir, a group of women in their late 70s and early 80s. I was privilged to participate in a picnic at the graveside of one of their departed friends, whose life they celebrated with song, food and stories. I am grateful to the generous Seto souls who shared a powerful lesson in enduring friendship.
