Keahiakawelo

Sunrise over the Kalohi channel between Moloka`i and Lana`i showers soft light on the eroded canyons of Keahiakawelo, or the "Garden of the Gods." This is the area slated to be completely destroyed by a wind turbine farm which at best would provide a few % of the energy needed to power the lights and air conditioning of Waikiki. Keahiakawelo is an area which many people describe as "barren, ugly, and featureless." Nothing could be further from the truth, as the area is rich in cultural, natural, and biological history. Renewable energy is needed, but not at this incredible cost to Lana`i.
