This sea lion pup was only a few days old. His eyes weren't even opened yet. I watched him inching his way along the sand, looking for his mum. He must have been hungry. Although he couldn't see, he could smell. At the first whiff of food, a dead crab, he slithered his way through the sand to get at it. Once he found it, he spent quite a long time maneuvering the crab onto his nose, then gently lifting his head and inching the crab to his mouth. Too bad it was only a shell... other predators had been there before him.
