The warm waters of the Pacific swirl among the tidepools of Kaunolu, Lana`i. Kaunolu was the favorite summer home of King Kamehameha I, the first ruler to unite all the Hawaiian Islands under one sovereign monarch in 1810. Legend holds that his greatest chief Kahekili tested the merit and bravery of his warriors by making them leap from the cliffs at far right, a height of over 60 feet.
