Salim Khamdiv, a 81-year-old Meskhetian Turk in his house in Abastumani village, Georgia. It took Khamdiv some 60 years to return to his homeland from Central Asia after being deported in November 1944. He was among other 100,000 Muslims, mostly Meskhetian Turks, deported from Georgia to Central Asia by Stalin's order. They were perceived by Soviet regime as Turkey's potential allies in WWII.
