I came upon this image while searching through the wreckage of the Plaza Apartments in Joplin, Missouri the week after the tornado touched down. From a distance, the bright red shoe looked as if it was suspended in mid-air. The entire complex was bulldozed the following day. Crown Graphic, 4x5, Kodak Portra 160.
