What i love about photographing surfers with the wet collodion process is the immediacy of the image and how it enables me to interact simultaneously with the photograph and my subject alike. Making pictures in the public arena becomes a performance of sorts as conversation and a time frame is created that transcends the standard photographer/subject relationship. Chance meetings, spontaneous encounters, pictures and people, all in a fluctuating landscape. Definitely another good day at the office. This tintype of Kazzie Mahina and Max was made during an artist in residence in Byron Bay, NSW.
