- I knew this shot existed as I have caught this particular train many times, and had admired the way the Sydney Harbour Bridge pops into view at a certain point in the journey. I had rehearsed it in my mind and took my camera with me on a day when I knew the carriage would be quite busy.

- Disturbed by the environmental impact of the Ganpati festival in Bombay, I took a trip to Bombay's Shivaji Park beach to document the idols that wash back up on shore after immersion. It was ironic to note the squalor and debris that surround the idols which until 24 hours earlier were worshipped so fervently. The eyes that are so painstakingly painted to appear lifelike now appear to have a glassy-eyed death stare.

- Abrasive Contrasts in the Swiss Alps
- field_caption
- I took this photo after climbing my very first fourthousander in the Swiss Alps this autumn. I had spotted this angle in the semi-dark while climbing up from the Tracuit plateau to the Cabane de Tracuit (3456 m), then further up to Mt. Bishorn (4153 m). The shot was taken later in the afternoon, when the sunlight fell straight down onto this amazing rock of compelling beauty. I loved the staunchness of this rock, spearing up in contrast to the blue-grey whiteness of the Turtmann glacier that seems to flow downwards. The shot basically frames itself as you descend back onto the plateau.

- Fragile life in the Icelandic Highland Desert
- field_caption
- In the Icelandic Highland's, there is an area know as Emstrur, a black sand desert. You would not think that such a place would exist. But anyone that has traveled in Iceland knows that they should be prepared for the unexpected. Situated next to the largest glacier in Europe, Mýrdalsjökull, this desert is vast and varied and deserves a personal visit. A prominent feature of this area is the volcano named Mælifell. Stunning contrast of the green moss, the black sand and the blue sky. And here in this place, life is fragile and tenacious at the same time.

- i captured this image before leaving the dock to go diving. The clouds provided the perfect filter and the reef (a couple of hundred meter in front) created a unique calm water lagoon that reflected the sky perfectly.

- I've always enjoyed strolling through SF with a camera. The Chinatown district has so much to see in a matter of only a few square blocks. Everyone on this central street has a camera taking pictures of the street life, but this reflection of the city in a small market window caught my eye and I snapped it. When I got home and blew it up on my desktop my eye could not stop moving. The more you look at the picture the more you see; a vibrant city and the artifacts of a culture all mixed into one.
