This school was destroyed and subsequently abandoned during the war in Yugoslavia back in the 1990's. Almost twenty years later it still stands empty, occasionally used as a temporary hay bale storage space for the few local farmers remaining in the area. The "Ti/Ja" (You and I) in the hearts is a painted party decoration--school dances were held on Fridays in the main classroom. It was heartbreaking to take this photo, I kept wondering how many couples slow danced under those hearts imagining a beautiful future together.
