Grand Central and Chrysler Building: Zoom Effect

Grand Central Terminal and the Chrysler Building, two of the most iconic structures in New York City, are shown here in a unique and dynamic image that was created by carefully zooming the lens out from 105-24 mm during a one-second long exposure, while the camera was mounted on a tripod. The resulting effect adds a sense of motion to an otherwise static image and seems to bring the Roman god Hercules to life in the Beaux Arts sculpture “Transportation” by French artist Jules-Alexis Coutan.
