When I drive down to Monterey, I always stop at Moss Landing State Beach to try my luck at spotting some sea otters. Today I was very lucky indeed! I saw a large raft of otters; I counted over 50! Eventually, something on the shore startled the otters. They all "sat up" to look at the possible threat, and quickly tried to turn over to swim away. I have never seen this before and I felt so lucky to have watched them, and even luckier to have snapped a few photos of them as well. This photo is cropped to show the expressions of two particular otters that I favored.
