Caterpillar Invasion

While tree planting near Prince George, British Columbia, Canada, I spent three days on cut blocks that were completely covered with thousands of these caterpillars. Nearly every deciduous tree was stripped bare of leaves and each twig, tree trunk, and vine was covered just like in the picture. If you stood still it sounded like it was raining as the caterpillars fell from the tree tops. It was truly a creepy and eerie experience.
