Sun Bathing

A very young humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) leaves mum's reassuring presence to take a moment to bask in the warm sun of the Kingdom of Tonga. Every year humpback whales migrate from the cold, nutrient rich waters of Antarctica to the clear, warm waters of Tonga to birth their calves and mate before swimming back to the Southern ocean to feed for the summer.

Location: Vava'u, Tonga
