A man performs a death-defying maneuver at the Kalumba Ceremony near Katete, Zambia. In this move he has set his hands free and is secured only by squeezing the wooden pool between his legs. The ceremony occurs annually among the Chewa people who live throughout southern Africa, but are largely concentrated in Zambia and Malawi and is presided over by the Paramount Chief Gawa Undi.
Location: Katete, Zambia
