All the pig's men
Photo and caption by Carlos Cazurro
Every year, in early winter, hundreds of pigs are sacrified in 'La Matanza' (the slaughter) in many little towns all over Spain to prepare different kinds of food from them for feeding the rest of the year. That tradition is about to dissapear because young people are moving away from towns to big cities but generations over 40 years old still trying to keep it. In that image, men are trying to keep the pig on the table so the butcher can cut the pig's throat and begin a process that will take two or three days and will involve the whole family.
