In the Delta

I took this photo from the front of our Mokoro, a canoe carved from the Kigelia ("sausage") tree in the area around the Okavango Delta of Botswana. We camped for several days on the Delta with our amazing guides who lived in a nearby village. They would stand for hours on end to pole the boats along, providing us with endlessly interesting information about the wildlife and nature we encountered. It was a remarkable trip, and I snapped this lucky shot one morning when we were the last boat in our parade along the shallows.
