Volkfest is very much like the county and state fairs that pop up during mid to late summer in the United States. As a kid, this was my favorite ride at the Allen county fair in Lima, Ohio, where I grew up. I wanted to change the familiar into the spectacular, rendering it almost unrecognizable by increasing the element of time. I found it interesting to capture expanses of time on something other than video. I wanted to take as much of Dresden back with me as possible. This exposure is 20 seconds of frozen light and time.
