This year was the 50th anniversary of the Mt Hagen festival, an annual event held in the Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea. It started in 1961 to turn the fighting into a tribal dance competition. Around ten tribes from ten provinces across the country come together for 3 days of song & dance wearing traditional face paint and costume, making it one of the most spectacular cultural festivals in the world. This young boy was one of many proudly displaying their cultural heritage through tribal war dances, chants and mock fighting in the form of a Sing Sing.
