Drosera Intermedia is a type of Carnivorous Plant known as a Sundew. The Intermedia at this location are a striking, deep red colour growing in full sun and with little vegetative competetion almost completely taking over the land. They are everywhere in large swaths and patches around a sandy pond and it is a very dramatic sight to see. This individual twists out of the earth, reaching for its next meal and sending forth a flower stalk. Taken June, 2012 (the cameras settings are off a year) Part of Author's local exploration of Carnivorous Plants project.
Location: A sandy pond in Manorville, Long Island, NY, USA.
