Sarracenia Purpurea is a Carnivorous Plant also known as the Purple Pitcher Plant. This plant is found in an Atlantic White Cedar forest on the edge of a pond in an old, abandoned, commercial cranberry bog. Once part of a large and healthy population, it is now threatened severly due to poaching and being overgrown by competing vegetation due to fire suppression in the area. Taken July, 2012 (the cameras settings are off a year) Part of Author's local exploration of Carnivorous Plants project.
Location: Riverhead, Long Island, NY USA
