Sarracenia Flava is a Carnivorous Plant also known as a Pitcher Plant. This plant is not from some far-off land, but grows around the Wilmington, North Carolina area! They are threatened in the wild due to land-encroachment and habitat alteration from development, poaching by locals out to make some easy money and by fire-suppression, because these plants are adapted to clearings which are slowly being overgrown. Without proper conservation, these marvels of the plant world will surely vanish! Taken August, 2012 (the cameras settings are off a year)
Location: Nature Conservancy land near Wilmington, NC, USA. Visited with permission.
