A watchful glass frog

Category: Nature

Photo and caption by Tico Haroutiounian

Glass frogs (here a Hyalinobatrachium valeroi) are thus called because they are transparent. In this species, the male frog watches over the eggs. This one went into hiding behind a leaf when I came near.

Location: Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica.
