As my garden bid me farewell this late September, the last standing and untouched by the first frosts were my mammoth sunflowers. I wandered through on one particular day that was especially still and beautiful and I noticed that the sunflowers are not only still alive, but are hosts to bees, butterflies, and other tiny creatures.
