Sometimes incorrectly confused as damselflies, this dragonfly is identified as such because it is holding its four wings out at right angles when at rest (damselflies close their two wings at rest). Dragonflies are insect predators and play an important role in the food chain as they are themselves preyed upon by birds, lizards, frogs, fish and even spiders.

Location: Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory, Australia
