As weedy seadragons (Phyllopteryx taeniolatus) get older their leaf like appendages break off and aren't replaced. Its therefore easy to identify young dragons by their size and intact camouflage. On a cold winter afternoon the conditions were so bad that the only way I could get a photo of this very young seadragon was to turn off the strobes (flashes) and use the setting sun to frame the dragon - adding an element of grace to the image.
