Glowworm Beetle

Category: Nature

Photo and caption by Colin Hutton

This creature doesn't resemble a worm, nor does it glow, unlike the worm-like larvae and females which produce bioluminescence. Adult males come with their own set of fascinating features in the form of an impressive array of feathery antennae which they use to detect pheromones emitted by females.

Location: Durham, NC
