A first time mother, this Nigerian Dwarf goat moved her labor outdoors on an early September evening. She gave birth (called 'freshening') to two healthy kids, one doeling (girl) and one buckling (boy) about 2.5 lbs. each. Goats typically birth twins or triplets, although single births and as many as quintuplets are also common. Nigerian Dwarf goats are a miniature dairy breed with females standing no more than 22.5 inches tall. They are incredibly gregarious and wily creatures.
