First Sunlight at Lake Agnes

Photo and caption by Charlie Perity

I took this photo last year at Lake Agnes, which is a 45 minute hike up a steep trail from Lake Louise in Banff National park, Alberta. It was early October and the Fall colors of the Larch trees have started to turn a golden Yellow. My aim was to reach Lake Agnes before 10:AM because shortly after this time the sunlight rose high enough (from the left side) to make the Larch trees on the right side glow like they were on fire and Lake Agnes mirrored the glowing Larch trees. A few minutes later the perfect reflection became rippled as the sunshine warmed the cold waters of Lake Agnes.

Location: Lake Agnes, a short distance from Lake Louise, Alberta
