Phallus indusiatus, commonly called the bamboo fungus, bamboo pith, long net stinkhorn, crinoline stinkhorn or veiled lady, is a fungus in the family Phallaceae, or stinkhorns. A mushroom rarely noticed in Trinidad, West Indies. I first observed it last year on a casual walk with friends and ever since then I look for it whenever the rain falls heavily and the conditions are favorable for growth . There are as many as three variations on the walk through the Bamboo Cathedral to the Tracking Station in Chaguaramas. The mushroom has a distinct pungent aroma which attracts insects to it .
