Fiddler on the Mud

At low tide, if you stand still for five minutes on the Kimberly tidal mud plains you'll find yourself surrounded by millions of tiny brilliantly coloured Fiddler crabs. A single movement and in the blink of an eye they disappear to the safety of their underground mud holes. On the 3rd of October 2012 this beautiful little critter held his ground, male dominant claw proud and for this one in an otherwise hidden underground population of millions he allowed this colourful image to be taken.
