Having recently moved to Bioko Island, off the coast of West Africa, I was completely unprepared for the variety of birdlife I would encounter there. This Northern Double Collared Sunbird is just one of the spectacularly colored birds which regularly visit the area. They move very quickly from flower to flower sampling the sweet nectar. I was lucky enough to capture this shot of a beautifully poised specimen from a vantage point above him so that his emerald green and fire-engine red feathers compliment the green backdrop behind him created by the grass below.
