Dogs of the North

I came across this sled dog team within the first hour of a weekend long hunting trip near Pond Inlet. Situated on the Northern tip of Baffin Island, sights like these are quite common. This photograph was taken as they focused intently on their owner while he rummaged through his belongings. Sled dogs are resilient and wild but still resemble the loving qualities of a domestic dog to their owners. They live on the ice throughout the winter and feed mainly on raw seal meat. With the Bylot Island Mountains in the background and their intense stare in my direction, I knew I had something great.
