I photographed this girl at “Surprises in the Sky”. It was a children’s performance event held at the Nyinkka Nyunyu Art and Culture Centre during the 2012 Desert Harmony Festival, Tennant Creek, NT, Australia; hosted by Barkly Regional Arts (BRA). The Barkly regional demographic reveals high levels of unemployment, social disadvantage and cultural erosion. BRA adopts the regional role of developing resilient community development and cultural maintenance arts programs. It was established in 1996 to respond to community needs across the Barkly region in the Northern Territory.
