Jackie, the coconut man

Category: People

I met Jackie on Main Street in Utila, Honduras, while filming the Postcards from Utila documentary film. Jackie makes his living by selling coconuts to tourists for 25 lempiras each. When I asked to photograph him, he got really shy, but then shortly after got into character, tilted his hat sideways and posed for the photograph, joking and warning me the entire time that he 'might break my lens'. When I showed him the photograph, he genuinely laughed, approving the shot.

Location: Main Street, Utila, Honduras, October 2012
