The Red-Browed Finch is a native Australian finch that prefers wetter, thicker and greener habitat than other finches and they like to have some dense cover. They are often seen in and around Canberra sometimes in your yard like this one. Sadly their numbers have been decreasing over the past 20 years so sightings are now getting rarer.
