On a trip to The Pantanal in Brazil, I stayed at a lodge where we were told a little seen bird was nesting in the woods near the lodge. Our tour guide took us to where the birds were, and showed us a bird unlike any I had ever seen, a female Great Potoo. You would think she was a part of the tree instead of a bird, her camoflauge was so perfect. Female birds sit on a branch with their eyes closed shut and have one egg nestled on their feet like a penguin. The male bird goes out at night to do the hunting. Keeping their eyes shut keeps enemies from recognizing them as a bird.
