Two Toco Toucans
Photo and caption by Susan Roehl
There are several types of toucans in The Pantanal in Brazil. The one that seems the most populous is the toco toucan, a beautiful toucan with a fairly bright orange beak made for cracking nuts. There were five of these toucans on two trees, each one fighting off the other. Bird seed for these magnificent birds was provided for them by the lodge where I was staying. I took this image when two birds landed on the branch at the same time.
