On The Hunt

Launching into his third of five attempts at capturing a grey squirrel, this Red-tailed Hawk has the look of pure concentration and focus. The lucky squirrel finally found a hiding spot that was just out of reach of the hungry hawk after a fifteen-minute chess match that included frantic action in three different Garry Oak trees. The Red-tailed Hawk decided to move on after his fifth unsuccessful attack. The squirrel stayed put for another twenty minutes before popping his head back out. No doubt to allow his heart rate to settle back into some kind of normal rhythm again.
