The subtle colors of the Painted Hills are highlighted in this image. The rolling lines zigzag with the weaving of the burned colors, created by fallen ash millions of years ago. As I stood here, watching the light glow on the hills in front of me, I pictured Native American blankets from the South West. Today the Painted Hills stand as remnants and testaments to the Cascade's explosive history.
