After a freak hailstorm in New York City during the first week of August, 2011, I decided to document some close ups of the hail balls. What was more interesting though than the odd timing of year or the enourmous size of some of the hail, was the beautiful and intricate layers of designs that revealed themselves as the hail started to melt.
