Charles (an Environmental Portrait) is part of an on-going project entitled, "Prologue: Charles (and Imogene)" which begins to tell the daily socio-economic story of two characters who live under a bridge, cope with mental illness, struggle with sobriety and long to connect with and disconnect from society. For the past seven years, Charles, "homeless by choice" since the age of nine, has resided under the same bridge near one of Atlanta's busiest thoroughfares.
