Nightlife as Usual On Turkish Riviera

The conflict along the border of Turkey and Syria feels a world away as the Turkish yacht, Bahriyeli, docks in the port town of Marmaris, Turkey. A light breeze off the Mediterranean unfurls the country's flag from its permanent post at the stern of the boat. It's 9pm and the bars and restaurants are just starting to fill with people. By midnight the discos pulse with techno beats into the early morning hours, ending just before the pre-sunrise Adhan, or call to prayer, ripples across the shoreline of this once quiet fishing village.
Location: Marmaris, Mugla Province, Southwest Turkey; view from aboard Turkish yacht.
