Cherry Creek State Park is an urban wildlife sanctuary surrounded by suburbs South of Denver, Colorado. The park is summer home to a wide variety of songbirds, including goldfinches, such as this one enjoying thistle seeds. When the thistle gets to the right stage of ripeness, the goldfinches gorge themselves for a couple of weeks, until the thistle is all gone.
