Also known as the Valley of the Moon, Wadi Rum is a valley cut in the rock in southern Jordan. Many cultures, including the Nabateans, inhabited the area. The valley is best known in the west for its connection with T.E. Lawrence, the British officer who based his operation there during the Arab Revolt of 1917-1918.It is also the location of the 1962 movie, Laurence of Arabia.
