The Pheidole rugosula colony ,apart from many other ant species, consists from minor workers, they are the smallest 1.2-1.5mm. Major workers, two or three times bigger 2.6-3mm, and the queen 5mm. Originated from Africa it can be found in many other countries. The giant head is armed with powerful jaws connected to strong muscles. The photo was taken at 9x optical magnification of a fresh unpinned specimen against white background. The true color and the fine wrinkles can be easily recognized with the tiny eye.
